there are only 2 passions in my life- 1) is my family and 2) are my businesses!
In November of 2013, I was given the news that I was going to be laid off from my cushy project manager office job that I had with a large oil company. I had been living very comfortably and was being paid well with outstanding benefits with the oil company but now that was all gone.
Instead of looking for a new job and going through the same old rhetoric of adjusting my life to fit a different level of income, I decided to take a chance on this new chapter in my life. I had no money, no job, and no insurance to protect my wife and kids but I committed to a new life that I had always wanted- The life of the entrepreneur!
I sold all my toys including my favorite 1985 Jeep CJ-7 that was my prized fixer-upper, I cashed out my 401K, My pension and any other life savings and investments I had. I went out into my shop and rounded up all my tools and anything else I could call ‘startup assets’ and put them as collateral for a Startup capitalization loan. I spent 90 hours a week developing a business plan and on January 1, 2014, I started Bockman Group LLC.
I went out on the hustle day after day and eventually secured a services contract with a startup energy company. I then hired a bunch of guys that we quitting a local fencing because they were fed-up with the owner of that company. One side of our new company started building fences for customers and the other side was roustabouting for an oil company.
Today, Bockman Group LLC has grown into a million dollar operation with new branch companies being started each year. Currently, Bockman Group Fence Co is our area’s foremost sought-after premium level fence company by the high-level customer base. We also own Bockman Group National, a contractor, and facilities management company that is getting nationwide attention for outstanding customer service. We also own Bockman Group Trucking which is a small local trucking and logistics company.
